Just vote! Inter-Faith election monitors march for violence-free polls

Members of the Interfaith Citizen Observers Network on Sunday Feb 10 were seen marching through Ikeja (Lagos State) speaking out against violence at the forthcoming general elections.

“Please go and get your PVC and just vote as a responsible citizen of Nigeria,” the coordinator Imam Shefiu says into a loudspeaker.

One of the banners pinned to the vehicles and on the flyers read: “Say No to Violence — Just vote! The group’s other talking points included a plea to the electorate to not be an instrument of violence during and after the elections, that they avoid vote buying/ selling and hate speech.

The body is affiliated to the Strength in Diversity Development Centre (sddcng.org), which stated goal “is to Build a nation where people could have freedom to exercise their religious and cultural rights without fear”.
