Conference on sustainable tourism visits Badagry

As part of the activities leading up to the 2019 Tourism Innovation Development Advantage (TIDA) Conference, Skyview Communications in partnership with Halogen Securities on Thursday, March 28, 2019, hosted journalists on a press tour to Badagry Town, Lagos.

The TIDA Conference themed ‘Impact of Sustainable Tourism Development and Marketing of Tourism Destinations on Host Communities’, will focus on five cardinal points and keys to sustainable tourism development – employment, revenue generation, environment, infrastructure and security.

The Press tour featured a courtesy visit to the palace of HRH. High Chief Tajudeen Dosa Ayipe-Wawu. (Asheji Tenshiemente-1), the Wawu of Badagry Kingdom and a member, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs; and an educational tour to the Abass Seriki Slave Museum (Brazilian Barracoon).

During the tour, participants of the media tour were able to interact with some of the leadership and citizenry of Badagry Town, while gaining a deeper understanding of how the five cardinal points of the TIDA 2019 Conference can affect Badagry, a community which hosts some of the nation’s most treasured tourism and heritage sites.

HRH. High Chief Tajudeen Dosa Ayipe-Wawu and members of the Badagry community, had during the tour, shown lots of enthusiasm for the TIDA Conference by expressing their support of ‘sustainable tourism development in Nigeria’.

The second edition of the TIDA Conference holds at 10:00 am on April 24, 2019, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, 13/15, Kofo Abayomi St., Victoria Island, Lagos.
